Zhuhai is situated on the southern tip of Pearl River, which flows into the South Sea. Its stunning coastline boasts tropical palms, wide-open spaces, a sparse population and many exquisite islands. In fact, Zhuhai is fondly known as the city of a hundred islands (146 islands, to be exact), serves as the gateway to Macau and is only 70 minutes to Hong Kong by ferry. Zhuhai is one of China’s cleanest and prettiest cities and received numerous accolades for its excellent ecological development efforts. In 1998, it was awarded the International Award for Best Practices in Improving Living Environment by the United Nations Centre for Human Settlements.
